Remedial Construction Services

Portolesi Group are the first company in South Australia to provide shotcrete services by workers specifically trained in wet and dry application, gunite, concrete remediation and all forms of reinforcement installation and repair. Further, as an extension to this service Portolesi bring the unique skills required to deliver the optimum waterproofing outcomes to shotcrete systems typically overlooked by most contractors. This includes post installation sheet membranes, barrier and waterstop injections systems, and the highly specialised PrePrufe© system using the combination of sheet membranes and post installation dry side injection all in one.

Shotcrete is a generic term for a spray-application of concretes, not wet or dry application method. Shotcrete is concrete or mortar conveyed through a hose and pneumatically projected at high velocity onto a surface, as a construction technique.

Shotcrete when it was first used in USA in 1907 was known as ‘gunite’ and is still used to this day. The Portolesi Group have been using Gunite for some time. When it first began, it was dry sprayed but is now sprayed wet or dry depending on the task. A Shotcrete machine is used to control the complete process making it fast, effective, safe and easy. Whilst manual and mechanical methods are used for the wet spraying process, wet sprayed concrete is traditionally applied by machine.

Dry spraying is more commonly used in smaller quantities with spraying wet mix is for larger jobs such as but not limited to, lining Tunnel walls, Mines, Dams, Detention tanks and Slope stabilisation.

Slope Stabilisation, especially can prove difficult but with Shotcrete and its ability to work in difficult to reach terrain, this is made easier to finish professionally and efficiently.
